China is currently the largest education market
in the world, with 1.2 billion people and thousands of public universities.
The high quality of education in the United States has always been
attractive to Chinese students who dream of studying abroad.
The Chinese have been melding Western culture and education together
with Eastern culture for the past hundred years, and the educational
system in China is quite similar to that of the United States. Students
must pass strict examinations before being accepted into public
universities.
Students' English language skills greatly improve after
two to three years of university studies. General students can achieve
TOEFL scores of 550-600 by the time they complete their undergraduate
program. Since joining the World Trade Organization, China is trying
more than ever to compete in the industrialized world.
Over the past decade, the large number of foreign instructors that
have entered China has further improved the nation's
quality and level of education. China's educational
progress, combined with its ancient cultural history, has also attracted
increasing numbers of foreign students. In fact, statistics released
by China's Education Department in 2002 show the number
of foreign students coming to study in China has surpassed the number
of Chinese students studying abroad.
Over one hundred major universities have been exploring the Chinese
market recently, and these institutions have agreed to accept academic
credits from one to four years of study at Chinese universities.
University students in China are thus able earn academic credits
toward degrees in the United States. Distance learning and online
education have also become more accepted and developed in China.
Accredited universities that have entered the Chinese market include:

However, not many students from middle-class families
can afford to study for a full four-year program abroad. Thousands
of students in China are, however, able to afford total tuition
fees approximately equal to a single year's formal post-secondary
education in the United States.
CIBS is sincerely willing to cooperate with accredited institutions
